Watching Gamaken laugh & splash around in nothing but swim trunks makes Henry’s heart ache, but he keeps his feelings hidden. Meanwhile, Gamaken is oblivious, too busy admiring their female companions in their skimpy bikinis—& the mysterious fishwomen, half-human, half-mermaid creatures basking in the sun. But the carefree day is interrupted by a sudden warning. A bell tolls, panic surges through the crowd, & people flee the beach. A curious Gamaken questions a nearby kappa yokai, discovering the horrifying truth: when night falls, the funa-yurei, ghostly sea phantoms, rise from the depths to unleash chaos. With dread hanging in the salty air, the Cursebreakers flee the beach. But fate has other plans. The funa-yurei aren’t waiting for twilight—they attack early, crawling from the surf, their waterlogged bodies a terrifying sight...
