In the wind-swept silence of the post-apocalyptic dunes, something stirs beneath the sands. Vojak, a gaunt, goggled wanderer with crimson eyes, awakens in a dead world crawling with monsters. Once a heroic supersoldier, he was enhanced by a war drug known as ICHOR, a volatile substance that twisted its users into something more than human… and far less. Now, those like him are known only as Hemovores: mutated, half-feral addicts who must feed on blood to survive. Not for nourishment, but to stave off the withdrawal, blood is their methadone, a pale substitute for the true high of ichor. Drawn by instinct and scent, Vojak crosses paths with a wounded scout named Iora, hunted by creatures as twisted as himself. As blood is spilled and the predators close in, the hunger inside Vojak begins to roar, but instead of giving in, he makes a choice that sets him apart: he fights the craving. He saves her.
