Darcy Hart comes from a repressed, dysfunctional family, despite their wealth and high social standing. The Harts project a class of a stiff upper lip but Darcy finds comfort in the electric party scene of 1980s London. Soon he finds the dark side of living the drugs, sex, and rock n' roll lifestyle. He escapes the expectations of his parents only to find himself prisoner to the expectations of his lovers.
I really relate to missing social cues. It seems like she is flirting with him and it's going right over his head. I love that he takes things very literally. I do the same thing. The bit where she asks where he has been all that time and he says LONDON! HAHAHA I felt that in my soul. So many times do I look back and go “dang! That person was flirting with me”. Its nice that he has fit right into the group and he has a place to go during recovery in Italy. The best thing his parents ever did for him was distance themselves from him.
