FWACATA #3

FWACATA — pronounced [fwah-KAH-tah] — is Cuban slang for POW!, WHAM!, or the sting of sudden impact. It can also mean being flat broke — “estar en la fuácata” — the kind of broke you get when you keep buying indie comics because they’re just that damn good. Created, written, and illustrated by Juan Navarro, FWACATA #3 is the latest entry in his Latinx, DIY, self-anthology comic series that hits hard, hits weird, and hits home. This 32-page chaos capsule blends noir, horror, and grindhouse Miami energy into one explosive indie comic experience. Inside you’ll find: 👻 REZ – The Final Chapter A disgraced detective haunted by his past lives faces one last case before it ends all of them. Noir meets reincarnation in this supernatural detective thriller. 🥩 PACHANGA – Meathook Returns Miami’s brutal vigilante, Meathook, takes on a roided-out monster of muscle while the cops scramble to survive the carnage. Think The Punisher meets Scarface on a bender. 🧟 ZOMBIE YEARS – Apocalypse Knight From Juan’s cult-favorite webcomic comes a new short about a lone knight hacking through the undead ruins of Miami. Armored, exhausted, and still swinging. Plus: bonus sketches, notes from the creator, and variant cover art — including a gritty 90s Vertigo-style homage and a wild Super Mario Bros. 3 tribute! FWACATA #3 is more than a comic — it’s a statement. A raw, loud, Latinx punk zine in comic book form, made by hand, powered by caffeine, and dripping with love for storytelling and self-made art.
