Have you ever wondered what it’s like to be a firefighter? Have you ever wondered what we’re doing when we’re not running into a burning building? Have you wondered what we’re doing when we are?
Fireground Anecdotes is the comic journal of a career firefighter. Often funny sometimes exciting, but almost always interesting. I promise you haven’t read a comic like this before!
*Notes and Disclaimers*
*All characters are real people, but likenesses are not expected to be accurate.
*Names are omitted, or initialized to protect the privacy of my coworkers.
*This is my interpretation of real events. My memory is awful.
*My thoughts and opinions are my own and do not represent my department/city/AHJ.)
* Fire departments vary greatly in structure, operation, and policy. Mine operates on a 24/48 schedule (24 hours on 48 hours off), with units of 3 to 4 people. Each “unit“ or “company“ is 3 to 4 people and has It’s own unique jobs and specialties.
*This comic is meant to raise public awareness of the fire service. We’re not Saints are superheroes. We’re just regular folks trying to do a (sometimes dangerous/stressful) job.
We train hard and we rest hard, because we never know what we may be called upon to do next.
This comic is a little chronologically out of order, but it’s a good introduction to some of the tasks and units involved on the fireground.
