Summary of "Death Note: The God Complex"

The Era of the Human God (Years 1–15)
The story begins with a massive surge in executions, dropping the global crime rate by 90%. Governments are forced to pass laws hiding the identities of citizens to protect them from Kira, and cults emerge worldwide worshipping Light as a deity. Light eventually reveals his identity to the world and becomes the official President of the World.
The Resistance and the Fallen (Years 1–11)
L’s successor, Near, leads an international resistance. To survive, the resistance fighters must use only nicknames, as speaking a real name becomes a global taboo. Despite a decade-long struggle, Near is eventually lured into a trap and killed, ending the world's last hope for freedom.
The Immortal God of Death (Years 69–420)
Light discovers a way to become immortal, officially calling himself the "God of Death". He recruits Shinigamis to serve as his soldiers and eventually kills the Shinigami King, taking over the Shinigami Realm. This leads to a catastrophic "Doomsday" war between Heaven and Hell that lasts for 1,000 years.
The Great Reset (Years 1,500+)
The war finally ends in a cease-fire between Light and a resurrected "God L," where they agree to split the rule of the universe—Light ruling Hell and L ruling Heaven. Ultimately, the series concludes with "The Great Reset," where humanity’s memory is wiped, and the world starts again from the Stone Age, beginning the cycle anew.
