A father and son are captured by a group of militiamen who use terror to “patrol” the border. At their darkest moment, the refugees find a fierce ally—but can they truly trust a monster once it has killed the other monsters?

El Alacran
A strange carnival arrives at the edges of a midwestern town, with a sinister somebody hot on its trail. The owner of the carnival—mysterious, masked Catrina—shocks onlookers with a gruesome tale. In Chicago, a mother gets on the subway with her young son, who to her chagrin wears a lucha libre mask. A woman passenger explains that she, too, was once obsessed with wrestling … until her mother objected. Then she went to gristly lengths to follow her dreams.

El Cucuy de Cancún
Catrina and her carnival reach the Pacific Coast, where she tells the tale of a beautiful but deadly creature who preys on a group of unsuspecting and disrespectful tourists in Cancún. As Catrina reveals the ancient nature of this human-eating being, her caravan has to hurry away, as their nemesis has tracked them down at last.
