KULTURE KOMICS PRESENTS: BENEVOLENT
ISSUE #2 — “BLOOD OATH”
SYNOPSIS
Before Empire Yankee knew him as Benevolent…
Trevell Suggs was just a 15-year-old kid trying to survive Crown City.
And before becoming Rebel, Rue Robertson was a 17-year-old newly affiliated with the Wolves while visiting his father back home.
The streets were already changing him.
Still, despite the violence surrounding them, Trevell, Rue, and Emma formed an unbreakable bond that felt more like family than friendship.
Emma — older, wiser, and protective — tries keeping both boys grounded while Crown City slowly pulls Rue deeper into gang life.
But after defending Emma from street harassment one rainy night, Rue proposes something reckless:
A blood oath.
Together, Rue and Trevell swear to:
• never betray each other
• always protect Emma
• always come home alive
What neither of them realizes is that the oath becomes spiritually binding in ways far beyond emotion.
Years later, the promise still follows them.
Now separated by cities, responsibilities, and violence, adult Trevell and adult Rue remain emotionally connected through loyalty, trauma, and shared history.
During a late-night phone call between Empire Yankee and Crown City, the weight of growing older, surviving street wars, and carrying leadership begins showing cracks in both men.
Then suddenly—
Rue senses danger approaching.
And miles away…
Trevell feels it too.
