BENEVOLENT
ISSUE #1 — “THE FIXER”
SYNOPSIS
Empire Yankee is a city held together by duct tape, fear, and stubborn survival.
Broken heaters.
Broken cars.
Broken apartments.
Broken people.
And somehow, Trevell Suggs fixes all of it.
By day, Trevell works as the neighborhood repairman — restoring heat to freezing homes, helping struggling families, and keeping the block alive with his own hands.
But at night?
He handles the repairs nobody else can.
Gang truces.
Missing children.
Street disputes.
Corrupt landlords.
Violent crews.
Trevell is feared throughout Empire Yankee because he’s still connected to the streets — a respected thug with enough presence to stop shootings just by entering the room.
Yet despite his reputation, one rule defines him:
Innocent people never get hurt around Trevell Suggs.
At home, Trevell takes care of his towering 96-year-old grandfather Joe Suggs — a retired chef who still cooks three meals a day, walks without assistance, and quietly senses there’s something unusual about his grandson.
As Trevell struggles under the emotional weight of carrying an entire neighborhood on his back, strange moments begin happening around him:
golden flashes in his eyes,
unnatural instincts,
an overwhelming presence people can feel but can’t explain.
Then one rainy night, while helping a dying old man inside a rundown apartment, Trevell hears shocking words:
“You got angel blood on you, boy…”
Seconds later, divine golden energy explodes from Trevell’s hands — accidentally healing the man completely.
For the first time in his life…
Trevell realizes something inside him may not be human at all.
