ART TO THE FACE #33: Toys, Ninjas, and Other Excellent Bad Decisions September’s sketchbook zine is here! Come for the art. Stay for the tiny plastic bastards and questionable ambition. Between studying for my master’s and training toward teaching graphic design, I somehow kept making shit. Fingers, toes, and huevos crossed—and here’s the evidence: • Toy-making and custom bases for my figures, plus one for my buddy BARRIOBOBA. These little bastards deserve to stand up AND stand out. • CALCINATION No. 1, my finished painting for an upcoming show. Something actually crossed the finish line! Somebody alert the authorities. • NEENJAZ sketches and notes: sharpening characters, rethinking the first year, and preparing to bring it back swinging. • H00D, my “stop-motion comic book” experiment: handmade figures, miniature sets, and photographs turned into a story on paper. Playing with toys with extra steps and a publishing problem. • Kuriouser and Kuriouser sketches, story ideas, and more creative trouble brewing.
