Art to the Face – February 2025: The Current State of FWACATA and Making Art When the Times Are Tough
Welcome to Art to the Face, a place where sketches, ideas, and half-mad ramblings collide. It's been a month of highs, lows, and everything in between. In this blog, I’m here to share my journey and, if I’m being honest, vent a little—because sometimes, when you’re living through the grind of being an artist, it helps to put it all out there. For February, comics have been the focus, and I’ve been digging deep into my own chaotic past, unearthing old notes, half-baked scripts, and whatever ideas I could salvage in the process. Sorting through it all is a never-ending endeavor—just ask any artist. But honestly? That’s the life we’ve chosen.
VIGIL: The Project That Keeps on Giving
If you've been following me for a while, you know VIGIL has been a part of my creative life for over two decades. This superhero project has been with me since I was a teenager, and every creator has that one original idea—the one that convinces them they’ve got something special. For me, that’s VIGIL. It’s been the cornerstone of everything I’ve worked on, the thing I keep coming back to, the project that reminds me I might actually be onto something. Sure, I’ve dabbled in other stories and comics, but VIGIL has always been my baby.
And here I am, twenty-plus years later, still fighting to get it right. I still believe it can be what I’ve always dreamed, even if that dream shifts and evolves. I don’t know where “there” is, but I’m damn sure I’m going to try to get there. If I don’t? Well, let’s just say the journey will be one hell of a ride.
