Are We There Yet? is a monthly comic that follows the 3-story tall Homesteader spaceship on its voyage to colonize Mars, the first phase of the ambitious Occupy Mars mission.
The story begins as Zephyr Davis, one of the 200 hibernating crew members, unexpectedly wakes up 4 months early after having a scary dream involving deep space and chocolate chip cookies. Unsure what to do, at the suggestion of the ship's computer, called Pedro Alonso Niño, he wakes up the mission leader, Captain James "Big Jim" Baker.
Together, they inform Mission Control, led by Flight Director Tim Kalmus, of what has occurred. Kalmus and his boss, Mission Director Susan Gibson, suddenly find themselves leading a completely different mission.
To complicate matters, more crew members begin to wake up after experiencing their own odd dreams. In addition to Mission Control and the crew themselves, their families back on earth also have to switch gears and adjust to their premature reappearance.
By the time The Homesteader finally sets down on the Martian surface, the crew has formed into two friendly, but competitive camps; the Dreamers (those who woke up early), and the Sleepers (who didn’t wake up until they reached Mars).
