MARAUDER: BEFORE THE CROWN

RENT IS MATTER

Free

Grievance finally makes its repair hunger impossible to ignore. Mara is led to the Forge Gut and watches stored salvage vanish through sorting tendons, processing membranes, and repair bladders at a rate that turns every recent comfort into an expense. She compares the intake against contracts, ammunition, food, weapon wear—and her now-empty Reserve Bottle—and realizes her “home” has a material cost measured on industrial scales. Instead of complaining, she gears up for work. Relationship insight: Ownership becomes obligation. Mara stops asking only what Grievance can provide and starts calculating what she owes the living body keeping her alive. The next contract run is not for glory. It is groceries.

MARAUDER: BEFORE THE CROWN

WRONG ROOM

Free

Half-asleep and wrapped for the bath, Mara follows the wrong open maintenance seam and steps into a cavern the size of a district. What she expected to be a hallway is a dormant Civic Hollow: empty habitat ribs, communal platforms, sealed service mouths, and enough unused space for thousands. For several moments, the joke disappears as Mara finally understands how little of Grievance she actually inhabits. When the route calmly leads her back to the tiny bath door she wanted, awe snaps back into irritation. Relationship insight: Mara is forced to see Grievance as a civilization, not merely something she owns. Grievance guides her home without explanation, revealing scale and possibilities neither of them is ready to discuss.

MARAUDER: BEFORE THE CROWN

HANGOVER CURRENT

Free

Hungover and stubborn, Mara insists on personally observing route entry from the Current Nave. The enormous navigation organ builds sub-bass pressure around her until the Star-Sea locks into beautiful ordered current lines—and Mara dedicates every ounce of discipline to not vomiting. She releases the rail to prove a point, immediately grabs it again, then loses the fight with her stomach while still hitting the wash station with perfect tactical accuracy. A low pressure note follows that sounds suspiciously amused. Relationship insight: Mara realizes Grievance may actually have a sense of humor, while Grievance demonstrates that it knows her limits better than she wants. Their intimacy now includes embarrassment, not only danger.

MARAUDER: BEFORE THE CROWN

THE SILENT DINNER

Free

Dinner becomes a battle of manners when Mara props one boot on the low dining surface and her plate quietly slides away. She adds the second boot. The table tilts beneath her legs while keeping the food perfectly level. Mara tests every possible posture, then braces like she is resisting a combat throw; Grievance responds by adjusting the entire floor exactly enough to slide her six inches while her meal never spills. She catches herself mid-chew, defeated by architecture. Relationship insight: Grievance’s personality is now legible through tiny pressure corrections. They can argue over something as stupid as table manners—which means they are beginning to live together rather than merely survive together.

MARAUDER: BEFORE THE CROWN

PERSONAL SPACE

Free

After a rough contract, Mara begins stripping damaged outer armor beside the open observation membrane. As more armor comes off, the Star-Sea view quietly darkens behind her. Suspicious, she tests the membrane and realizes nothing is malfunctioning: Grievance has deliberately made the wall opaque to give her privacy. For once, Mara’s dirty joke dies before she says it. She finishes changing in silence, touches the darkened membrane, and offers one word: “Good.” Relationship insight: This is trust through restraint. Grievance has learned a boundary Mara never explicitly demanded, proving the Bloom is changing it too. Mara recognizes care that does not require argument, supervision, or repayment.

MARAUDER: BEFORE THE CROWN

HOUSEKEEPING IS WAR

Free

Mara calls the blood stains, scorch marks, repair drips, weapon oil, and towel pile in her quarters “lived in.” Grievance apparently hears “biohazard.” An aggressive cleaning cycle begins around her while she tries to maintain The Due, forcing a room-by-room tactical retreat as wash lines chase every stain she considers sentimental. When a cleaning membrane removes a mark she deliberately kept from the blade, the argument becomes personal. By the end, the quarters are pristine, Mara is wet, and The Due is offensively spotless. Relationship insight: Home is becoming shared territory. Mara wants history preserved as scars; Grievance wants the habitat maintained. Neither gets absolute control.

MARAUDER: BEFORE THE CROWN

NO BOOTS ON THE NERVE

Free

Fully armored and impatient, Mara stomps into the Sovereign Spine in magnetic boarding boots. The sensitive living floor tightens, bucks, and throws pressure back at every hard step until Mara starts treating the hallway like a hostile fighter. One deliberate stomp nearly sends her into a wall. The answer arrives when she removes a boot and places a bare foot on the nerve-lined floor: the entire corridor settles instantly. She finishes the walk barefoot, carrying both boots under one arm. Relationship insight: Mara learns that living inside Grievance means respecting its body, not treating every surface like equipment. Grievance teaches without speech—the pain stops the moment she listens.

MARAUDER: BEFORE THE CROWN

THE BED MOVED

Free

Mara wakes in the dark when her sleeping platform suddenly shifts six inches. Her first assumption is attack; her second is that Grievance has lost its mind. After checking every threat point, she discovers the truth: a repair seam above the bed is leaking exactly where her head had been. Grievance moved her before the first drop landed. Mara puts down a towel, accepts the new position, and tries to sleep—only for the platform to slide one unnecessary inch farther after she complains that she could have been warned. Relationship insight: Grievance protects her quietly and possesses a dry streak Mara is only beginning to recognize. Her first response to being cared for is still irritation—but she no longer moves the bed back.

MARAUDER: BEFORE THE CROWN

ONE BOTTLE, 24 KILOMETERS

Free

A current shear rattles the Sovereign Quarters and Mara’s Reserve Bottle vanishes from its shelf. What follows is a full tactical search for one missing drink: sleeping platform, bath ledge, weapon cradle, floor channels—everywhere except where Mara wants it to be. When she finally hears the bottle trapped in a living groove, commands accomplish nothing. A simple request does. Floor pressure rolls the scuffed but intact bottle back to her boot, and Mara pours herself a drink without saying thank you. Relationship insight: Mara discovers Grievance can help without obeying her, and “please” becomes more effective than rank, ownership, or profanity.

MARAUDER: BEFORE THE CROWN

BATHING RIGHTS

Free

Still concussed from recent fighting, Mara decides she has earned one thing: a hot bath. Grievance disagrees. Every thermal route stays locked while the medical wall wakes instead, and Mara repeatedly tries to prove she is “fine” only for the living floor to correct her balance. She grudgingly submits to a check, earns only a slight temperature increase, then sits in the still-cold bath out of pure spite. Her verdict—“You are a judgmental bathtub.”—gets one tiny amber pulse and no warmer water. Relationship insight: Grievance is beginning to enforce bodily boundaries Mara refuses to admit she needs, turning care into obstruction because that is the language she actually respects.

MARAUDER: BEFORE THE CROWN

BREAKFAST FOR A CONTINENT

Free

The morning after being forcibly cared for, Mara attempts the simplest possible victory: breakfast. Inside a 24-kilometer organism, however, “a little more heat” means Grievance accidentally feeds industrial-grade Forge Gut warmth into a tiny cooking surface. Mara fights the temperature like an enemy, saves the pan with combat reflexes, and still loses most of the food to the ceiling before the room instantly cools to perfect safety. She eats what survived while glaring at the new scorch mark. Relationship insight: They are learning each other’s scale. Grievance is attentive but wildly overqualified for human domestic life, and Mara begins realizing ordinary comfort will require negotiation rather than command.

MARAUDER: BEFORE THE CROWN

DOOR SAYS NO

Free

Mara returns from a contract bloodied, bruised, and in no mood to negotiate with her own home. When the Sovereign Quarters refuse to open, she cycles through commands, ownership claims, threats, and brute force—while Grievance keeps routing every answer toward the medical wall. The turning point comes when Mara’s injured body finally betrays her and the living floor catches her instead of letting her fall. Only after she admits, “I need the wall,” does the door open and carry her inside. Relationship insight: Mara learns that ownership does not equal absolute control. Grievance’s refusal is not rebellion, but protection—and asking for help becomes their first real house rule.

Cap's Comic — Season 1

Cap's Comic — Season 1

ISSUE #7 — “THE ROOM WITH NO ECHO”

Free

Cap enters a perfectly sealed room and realizes something’s wrong—no echo, no reverb, no feedback. Every sound dies instantly. Silence presses back. HIGH M@GIC — Season 1

Issue #1 — WI-FIGHT OF THE ANCIENT

Free

Reeferan Greenleaf can negotiate with matter, bend resonance, and insult reality into compliance. What he cannot do is get the Dank Tower Wi-Fi to stop dying every twenty minutes. When a basic connection problem becomes a personal affront to wizard dignity, Reeferan answers with signal-binding ritual work, password tribute logic, and old-world arcane warfare against a system that has no soul and too many permissions. The result is immediate disaster: devices begin choosing sides, the tower’s tech turns hostile, memory starts skipping, and the neighborhood suffers a cascading tantrum of haunted modern convenience. By the time Reeferan claws his way to an ugly partial victory, the damage has already spread beyond his walls. Worse, somewhere in the city grid, something official finally notices the Dank Tower.
