Very pleased to announce that the The Mice has signed to Markosia Publishing. UK-based Markosia are a leading independent voice of quality, off-beat comics, and a fitting home for this sci-fi series. The Mice will be published in four graphic novels, around 80-pages each, over the forthcoming two years. I hope you will follow me there, and continue to support the book.

Markosia already publish my 80-page, Sin City-esque graphic novel London Inferno, with writer LF Bollée. Check it out https://markosia.com/books/worlds-of-horror/london-inferno/

Trying to finish a first draft of a fantasy novel. It’s an idea I’ve had for years, and it all started with a cup of coffee in a Sainsbury’s supermarket in SE London. Once I finish the draft I’ll be turning again to The Mice, and publishing the rest of it.

I've been collecting reviews of The Mice, as it has been published and reviewed often over the past 22 years—

“Small press comics at its absolute best. 9/10.” Comics International

“Must Read Now! 4/5. A surprising romp, Mason’s art style is all shadows and set jaws reminiscent of Sean Phillips, while his writing navigates the tonal tightrope between the Hitchhiker’s-style banality of alien occupation and the muscle-straining desperation of the leads’ fight for survival. It may be like a lot of things, but there’s nothing else like it.” Sci Fi Now

"Thick with satire, irony and humour The Factory Menace is a rare gem, and if you’re the sort of person who likes to talk about the artistic credentials of sequential art as social commentary, or you simply like good sci-fi well told, then this will make you grin." Starburst.

“Multi-layered and thoughtful... a great read.” Forbidden Planet.

“Genius... big on ideas and action. This is smart, incredibly bleak science fiction of the sort that seems to have a natural home in the UK thanks to 2000 AD and its ilk. Big on ideas and action, but small in stature, The Mice is a highly unusual post-apocalyptic story and one that 2000 AD fans in particular shouldn’t be without. Just don’t try the soup.” SFX

“Undoubtedly one of Britain’s best talents.” Sci-Fi-London

"Roger Mason's fully-formed future scenario pits tiny terrorists in the Land of the Giants against occupying alien forces. A rollicking SF epic brought to life with splendidly fluid chiaroscuro brushwork by one of the UK's most exciting young talents.” Gary Spencer Millidge

“This is a gem and worth seeking out.” bugpowder.com

"[Chapter 3] is part of Roger Mason's already acclaimed The Mice series and displays the same wit and thoughtfulness that have made the previous issues such a critical success… a real treat, and I would highly recommend not only this episode but the series as a whole.” Red Eye magazine
