Bob’s Original Assignment:
“Scout Target: High-Level Earth Specimen — CEO, Politician, or Cult Leader. Preferably someone with access to Earth’s red tape command structure.”
Bob chooses to shadow a flashy tech billionaire Mlon Eusk, fully expecting to uncover the source of Earth's bureaucratic madness.
The Twist:
But at every critical point in his mission, Bob keeps bumping into Nate Form — a mild-mannered, single dad trying to marry his fiancée, process a visa, and not get obliterated by form rejections and incorrect paper folder colors.
At first Bob dismisses him as irrelevant. But after watching Nate:
Bob starts to see something terrifying:
“This... this man isn’t the problem. He’s the perfect victim. And yet, he keeps trying. He keeps following the system like it’s not made of sand and sarcasm. Why does he do this? WHY?!”
Bob’s Internal Logs (from his alien reporting device):
“Subject Nate Form displays compliance levels exceeding projections. Willingness to self-harm via paperwork at 98%. Refuses to lie. Does not bribe. Still optimistic. Possibly broken. Possibly divine.”
Their Dynamic Becomes:
Nate: Still clinging to hope the system works if you just fill out the forms right.
Bob: Desperately trying to get Nate to break a few rules just to survive — yet fascinated that he won’t.
Running Gag:
Bob keeps submitting reports back to the Home World:
“Target Alpha is a narcissist with ten shell corporations. Irrelevant.
Nate Form is now Priority One.
Subject exhibits rare psychological mutation: compliance with dignity.”
