Work to eat, Eat to Work is a statement developed by the author relating to the idea that a waitress often has to eat her words in order to keep her job. This is a skill made hard by the constantly disrespectful, self-serving customers who often deserve to be told off, but cannot be because of the realities of the restaurant industry.
